Therese Fox Hash typically goes by Tere. She is a life long resident of Montana. Growing up in Missoula, Tere satisfied a dream to attend college at the University of San Francisco, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1974, and her Juris Doctor Degree from Gonzaga University in 1983. While at Gonzaga, Tere was a member of the CanAm (Canadian/American) Law Review. During her third year at Gonzaga, Tere worked for the Federal District Magistrate in Spokane, Washington, reviewing cases and researching the applicable law.
After Law School, Tere began a yearlong clerkship with the Montana Supreme Court. Tere was admitted to the Montana State Bar on November 10, 1983, the U.S. District Court, District of Montana, on December 28, 1983, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on November 17, 1983. She is a member of the NorthWest Montana Bar Association as well as the Montana Bar Association.
After working for the Montana Supreme Court, Tere was first employed with a small local law firm, working primarily with land use and zoning issues. Tere later began a 30+ year career as a Judicial Staff Attorney with the 11th Judicial District Court where she gained in depth knowledge of various areas of the law from the court’s perspective. For 10 of those years, Tere was a Special Master, hearing contested cases.
Looking to again enter private practice, Tere joined the law firm with her husband, Mark. Her practice emphasis is mediation and settlement conferences, home owner association conflicts, water rights claims for residential use and other water law issues, and real estate matters.
Tere is a member the NorthWest Montana Bar Association, the Montana State Bar Association, Water Law Section as well as a member of the Montana Mediation Association. She is a member of Rotary International, Daybreak Club; P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization, an international organization) of which she is a past president of her chapter. She continued her interest in land use and zoning issues as a 12-year member of the City-County Planning Board, of which she was Chairperson for a number of years.
